Echo
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026 · Contact: guozhu123@outlook.com
Echo (the “app”) is designed and built privacy-first: all speech recognition runs locally on your device, and we do not collect any of your personal data.
1. Information we do not collect
- Voice audio: recognized entirely on your device — never uploaded
- Transcripts: stored only on your device (the Mac App Store version keeps them inside the app sandbox), fully under your control
- We require no account, and the app contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising components
2. How system permissions are used
- Microphone: used only to capture the recording input you actively choose
- Screen recording: used only to capture system audio for captions; we never capture or store screen images
3. When the app uses the network
Only in two places, neither of which carries personal identifiers:
- Downloading the recognition models from public sources on first launch
- If you turn on “AI Rewrite” and enter your own API endpoint and key, the finished transcript is sent directly to the service you specify (your key is stored in the system keychain; neither this app nor the developer can read the data of the service you configure)
4. Storage and deletion
- Sessions and model files are stored on your Mac; you can delete them in the app, or remove the directories above directly
5. Changes to this policy
- If a future version changes how data is handled, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label accordingly
